A Note About the Nylon Pieces: (Classical guitar transcriptions)
Nineteen pieces have so far been transcribed thanks to Theo Cheng's extreme patience. Originally written by yours truly, then 'instantly' recalled eyeball to eyeball, cuticle by cuticle etc ... you're getting these straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. The pieces were never designed to be 'easily' played, rather 'possibly' played with a persistent left hand ... These "largely nocturnal instruments of torture" come in three forms: 1) 'Straight' transcription ('unmarked') 2) Transcription with finger positions ('marked') 3) Simplified guitar 'tablature' ('tab') Another note for anyone attempting these in front of a live audience - be warned, all potentially beautiful nylon guitar performances are a high wire act and one is apt to fall off and crash to the ground! Even the best make outrageous howlers live and sometimes it's the simplest moments that trip us up. So get some good emery board, if you haven't already, and invest in these 'poofey' looking things that women use (pink, white and grey board) for buffing up the nails. It really does prevent 'snagging' and took me (as a self-taught player) years to discover. Anyone who embarks on this stuff is truly a guitar hero but, on the plus side, you may not have to argue ever again with the drummer about his flexible sense of time, or the bass player who won't turn down, or the singer who knows that you are his inferior as he's God's gift to hair gel and trousers...
