Ex-King Crimson members own musical venture, which resulted in this classic album.
Recorded at Island studios during May, June and July 1970.
Remastering began in December 2001 with McDonald and Giles present.
Originally released in November 1970, the self-titled album 'McDonald and Giles' came about from Ian McDonald and Michael Giles's work together on the sensational Brit art rock band King Crimson. After their innovative work on 'In The Court Of The Crimson King', the pair left King Crimson to record their own work with a guest appearance by the then member of Traffic, Steve Winwood .
King Crimson main-man Robert Fripp has come to regard 'McDonald and Giles' and KC's 'In The Wake Of Poseidon' as being "two halves of a record never made'.
Over subsequent years, McDonald went to found the chart-topping band Foreigner, leaving in 1985 to pursue solo and collaborative albums. Giles entered the world of session work playing a broad range of music from Leo Sayer to Penguin Café Orchestra and is currently working on various ideas including a percussion ensember with guitarist and composer Jakko Jakszyk.
Regarded by many Crim Heads as huge influences on the first King Crimson album, McDonald and Giles's album is remastered for the first time to HDCD quality and should appeal to many hard cord KC fans. The album will has a 12 page booklet with full lyrics and liner notes by the official King Crimson biographer Sid Smith.
